Searching for light in the night.

The guitars sit idle beside the drums , the room is silent. The studio is darkened, just like my heart.
Just two weeks ago my beautiful, healthy baby girl was active and playful inside her beautiful mommy, one-third of the way to the wonderful day of anticipation when we would welcome her to the world with big smiles and loving embraces. 12 days ago her heart stopped beating. Mine has not beat right ever since. I struggle through this haze for answers. I find myself bitter and angry.
I wonder why the God I love would allow such a travesty. I wonder why the God I love would allow healthy children to be born to "born-losers". It's easy to point fingers in this valley of darkness.
It's easy to blame self and analyze whether my life actions have brought about the wrath of God.
It's hard to "Let go and let God". It's hard to find any logic behind this life altering event.
It is however, when I look to Jesus and see the nail scars on His hands, that I am reminded of Gods amazing gift of ultimate love towards me and mankind. God willfully allowed His precious child to be beaten beyond recognition and nailed to a tree for the love of you and me. That's something that deserves my attention. That's something that sheds some light.. That's something that makes me long for that light at the end of the tunnel, that I am promised will be there in the end. If I walk in the way of love as He has called me to do, I will get to spend eternity in Heaven with God and will get to love my precious Daughter for a million years.
Oh how I long for that Light!

Gun control?...

It goes without saying that there has been an increase in public shootings in recent years, but is  taking guns away the real answer? Are guns the problem, or are people the problem? I tend to believe that the problem lies with the human condition. Lets pause a moment and reflect on some good old elementary common sense. when I was a kid, I shot my sister with a BB gun. When my parents took it away, I hit her with rocks. Taking away my BB gun didn't change how I felt about my sister when I was mad. I found an alternative way to hurt her.
There are a lot of material things that cause harm and death. Suicide bombers frequently use cars to blow up people. Should all the cars be confiscated? Cult leaders have used poison to kill a mass number of people, does that mean that we should ban all chemicals? Just as cars and chemicals are very useful . Guns have a purpose as well. If people walked in buildings and started beating people over the head with baseball bats, would politicians take our baseball bats away? Well, I think I have made my point about that. However, The state of peoples character and moral boundaries is something that should be the bigger concern. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, well here's mine.Poison, cars and guns all come with owners manuals to educate us on the proper way to get the most out of them. We humans have a users manual as well, It's called the bible. God created us and knows what is best for us. All we have to do is follow His instructions. In fact, if everyone, including all anti-Christian folks, actually followed the directions layed out by God our creator, the world would not have "terrorism" because we would all love each other and get along. In fact, there would be no homeless problem, no murder, no affairs ,no assaults ,no theft, no cheating, etc. etc. If you are one of those folks who doubts what I say, just give it a try,you might find that there really is a solution to the worlds problems and find  that there still is light through all  the darkness!

Having a bad day?

Have you ever heard the statement " I don't know why Gods' not listening! I thought when I became a Christian life would be easy!" I have heard it several times, and even thought it myself on a few occasions. Unfortunately, God never promised "this life" to be free of trouble. But He did promise to walk with us in all our trials and tribulations. Sometimes we humans tend to loose sight of eternity and focus on this very brief life here on earth. A hard thought  for me to swallow is the scripture that says "Rejoice in the Lord always!" When we come to realize that true and lasting joy only comes through God, His promises, and the expectation of eternity with Him, all the bad that this world throws our way is only minute compared to the bigger picture! Muscle builders have a popular saying " No pain no gain!" That's true in our spiritual lives as well, God allows us to have troubles in life to make us stronger so we will learn to rely on Him and fulfill His will for our lives, and experience true joy in the process, not a joy that comes and goes briefly from a passing temporary materialistic experience, But an everlasting joy that endures!
